The locking functions:

Latch and deadbolt locks for escape doors can generally be opened in the direction of escape without a key, even when they are locked. The options for opening the door against the direction of escape varies depending on the locking function.

Change-over function B:

• Opening the door against the direction of escape using the handle: only possible after unlocking it with the key
• After use of the escape function and once the door has closed: access against the direction of escape is blocked again and escaping back into the building is no longer possible

Transit function D:

• Opening the door against the direction of escape using the handle: only possible after unlocking it with the key
• After use of the escape function: the door is accessible from both sides and can be used to escape back into the building against the direction of escape

Lever set E:

• Opening the door against direction of escape: only possible after unlocking and only using the key
• After use of the escape function and once the door has closed: access against the direction of escape is blocked again and escaping back into the building is no longer possible
